Welcome to Duelling Over a Grand 2018. We are proud to be the first regatta to be using Regatta Central's new website.
At this time all events have a entry cap of 16 except the open singles. There is also a limit of 4 entries/club except for the 4x's. That said there are waitlists that will be reviewed by each deadline. At the end of the day, it is important to us that every athlete has the opportunity to race.
The prices include all taxes, the Rowing BC Fee, the bow marker deposit, with the RCA seat fee added at checkout.
For example the early bird entry fee for a single is $40+$8 RBC+$10 Bow Marker+$3.25 RCA fee= $61.25
Victoria City Rowing Club (VCRC) invites you to a weekend of racing on Elk Lake. Duelling Over A Grand is unlike any other regatta on the West Coast: two crews race head to head for 1000 meters, with the winner advancing to the next round of racing. A double knockout format allows a crew to advance through the tournament until they lose twice and are knocked out of the tournament or progress all the way to the final. With the double knockout, tournament style format, crews have the chance to take what they learned in one race and apply it to the next one. The exciting sudden death final has the crew who lost only once (and progressed to the final through the “underdog tree”) racing the crew who won all its races (and progressed to the final through the “undefeated tree”).
VCRC is pleased to announce prizes for the following events*
Open Mens 1x $1000 (1st Place), $250 (2nd Place)
Open Womens 1x $1000 (1st Place), $250 (2nd Place)
Due to the umpredictable nature of advancement in this tournament style format, each competitor may race in one event only.
Similar to last year, an updated version of the Garrett-Zezza handicap system will be applied to Masters events, with prizes awarded based on adjusted times. Masters are those 21 or older, as of Dec 31 of the current year.
For more information please check the regatta website.
Registration opens March 8th, 2018.
Entries will be capped at 16 for every event except the open 1x events.
The composition of the crew must stay the same throughout the regatta – no substituting. We encourage you to contact other clubs about entering composite crews, we want to ensure all athletes get an opportunity to race. Late entry of composite crews is possible up to noon, April 4th.
Fees are due by the normal entry deadline: midnight, March 31st.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are not able to pay online.
