John Hunter Regatta

  • Hosted By: Georgia Tech Rowing Club, St. Andrew Rowing Club
  • 2016 Registered Regatta

The Georgia Tech Crew and Saint Andrew Rowing Club invite you to the  28th Annual John Hunter Regatta  at the Lake Lanier Olympic Rowing Center in Gainesville, GA.

The Hunter is open to all college, scholastic and youth rowing teams with events scheduled for Eights, Fours and Quads (Youth-only). Racing will take place on the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games rowing course, a seven (7) lane, buoyed 2000 meter course with starting platforms, enclosed finish tower and stadium seating for 3000 spectators.

The Regatta will award team point trophies to the collegiate and youth teams scoring the most overall points. Varsity events are championship events (heats and finals) and first, second and third place medals awarded.  Lightweight, 2nd varsity, and novice events are one race flights and will award first, second and third place medals for events with four or more entries.  Winning crews of sponsored events will also receive a trophy.

New for 2014

  • A Middle School Exhibition event has been added, the Middle School Open 8+.  This event is open to pre-high school athletes. Boats can be male, female or mixed while coxswains may be of any age.... the older the better!  :)
  • Also, Collegiate and Junior Lightweight Varsity Eights for Men and Women have been added to the John Hunter schedule.  This event was removed from the Regatta a few years ago due to a lack of entries.   Please be advised that, if there are less than three (3) entries in a specific Lightweight 8+ race class, we may ask that the two entered crews race, instead, in a different, scheduled event.

You can view the proposed 2014 schedule of events on the Regatta Central Event List and at our website.
