Race Day Information

Directions: The 8 Annual Row the Rockies will be held at Cherry Creek Reservoir in Cherry Creek State Park. The park is located at   4201 South Parker Road, Aurora, CO, 80014. http://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/CherryCreek    I recommend entering the park at the West entrance (off Union Street near Cherry Creek HS) If you have GPS set it for Cherry Creek High School.  The Cherry Creek state park is a Colorado State Park.  If you have a Colorado State Park Pass on your car the entrance is free.  If not there is a charge for 9 dollar per day.  If you park at the HS this will be at your own risk I hear they are now ticketing people to do that and enter the park. Please see our Map.  If you bring a trailer RMRC will pay for your parking pass.

Parking: Parking is available for all competitors and spectators in both the Hobbie Hill parking lot and the RMRC Boathouse parking lot.  Please look for signs and see our map.  Our goal is for all car tops and trailers to park in the RMRC parking lot and unload their boat.  The Hobie Hill parking lot can be for spectators or cars without shells.  We hope to have some RMRC members shuttling people between the 2 parking lots on the day of the event.  WE DO RECOMEND YOU BRING YOUR BIKE TO TRANSPORT YOURSELF FROM THE PARKING LOT TO THE RMRC DOCK AND LAUNCH.  SEE THE MAP AS WELL.

Registration: All competitors are required to check-in at the registration table located near the RMRC boathouse. Competitors will receive their complimentary pair of socks and purchased food tickets at this time. Any boats that have not paid their registration fee will be required to pay by cash or check at the time of registration.

Events: All boat registrations will be managed by Regatta Central. There are event categories at this race: Masters and juniors and a few open races.   There will be both a parent child double and a parent child quad race.  We may have some open events as well.  Please check our event list for details.

Waivers: All rowers must sign the RMRC waiver.  Please see the waiver section and down load it there.  Competitors under the age of 18 will need a parent’s signature on the waiver.

Trailers:  For our teams bringing trailers, we will provide park passes for the two days if you pull your trailer in the night before.  We encourage folks to bring trailers.  Trailers are to park near our boathouse.

Car-top Carriers: Plan to proceed to the RMRC boathouse unload you boat and then move your car if needed to the Hobie Hill area.

Launching and Docking:  All boats coming to the regatta will launch off the RMRC boathouse dock.  There is availability to beach launch there as well for singles and doubles.

Coxswain’s Meeting: A coxswains meeting will be held at 6:00 AM at the Registration Tent. The meeting is required for any coxswains, 1x rowers and 2x/4x bow rowers. Course layout, traffic pattern and safety protocols will be covered at the meeting.

Bow Numbers:  RMRC will provide color coded bow numbers for each boat in the race.  Please return the bow number when you are done with your race.

Pets: Are welcome.

BBQ:  We will have a BBQ following the race near the RMRC boathouse.  The cost is $7.

Water: Water stations will be available by the registration tent. Please bring your own water bottle to refill.
