ACRA Henley Information
Coaches,
2018 will be the 2nd annual ACRA Henley Regatta. We had 17 programs compete in the first year of the event in 2017 and we look forward to hosting in 2018.
This regatta is being held in Nashville on Sunday, May 13th and Monday, May 14th. The regatta was formed by a group of coaches and programs who are interested in accomplishing the following:
1. Provide a racing opportunity that takes place between SIRA and ACRA
2. Provide a championship race in May for crews who have historically finished their season at SIRA
3. Provide a regatta with guaranteed multiple racing opportunities (with a target of 3 races per crew)
4. Provide an affordable regatta (see anticipated costs below)
Date and Location
The event will take place on Sunday, May 13th and Monday, May 14th on Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, TN. The course will be open for practice on Saturday, May 12th from 12pm to 6pm.
Format
The format will be dual races with the potential for round robin, bracket style and other dual racing formats. Events will be seeded either by previous race results through the last week of April or through a time trial (depending on the number of entries in that event). Each event will have losers brackets as the progression advances, guaranteeing all boats multiple races. We will have flexibility with the formatting to ensure competitive racing with logical progressions based on performance and number of entries.
Housing
There are several hotels within 15-25 minutes of the race site. For those crews who are interested, you can also stay at the Vanderbilt gym on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The cost is $5 per rower for the entire stay. The gym is a 20-25 minute drive from the course.
Shirt Betting
Shirt betting will be expected of all programs.
Events
We will have a minimum of the following events. If there are events with low entries, we can combine those with similar events, which will give those boats quality racing, especially with the time trial and/or bracket style progression (example, if minimal JV 8s enter, then we would place your JV into the varsity 8 time trial/bracket).
Men: Varsity 8, JV 8, Varsity 4, Varsity 2-, Varsity 2x, Varsity 1x, Novice 8, Novice 4, Lightweight 4
Women: Varsity 8, JV 8, Varsity 4, Varsity 2-, Varsity 2x, Varsity 1x, Novice 8, Novice 4, Lightweight 4
Costs
Costs will be kept to a minimum as the venue costs are significantly less than the majority of venues. As of now, we are expecting the costs for the two day regatta to be the following:
Eights: $105
Fours: $85
Pairs/Doubles: $55
Singles: $45
