All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Head Of The Charles x Gold Cup Grant Fund to support rowing programs that serve under resourced communities within the United States.

Whether you are new to rowing or are a seasoned competitor at the regatta, Head Of The Charles is welcoming all participants to our first global remote event. Competitors are welcome to enter as many events as they like. “Historically, our traditional regatta is oversubscribed for each event,” Executive Director Fred Schoch mentions, “this year stands as a unique opportunity for the entire global rowing community to compete.”

Here is an overview of each component of the event week:

Competitive Live: Go head-to-head with rowers in your age class - live! Competitors will connect with Concept2 RowErg to the Time-Team software to race live on October 17th against rowers around the globe. To participate, athletes will need a computer, one USB A-B cable, a Concept2 RowErg, and either a PM3, PM4, or PM5 monitor. The live racing day will also feature a broadcast, complete with commentatry from your favorite announcers, interviews with National Team athletes, plus some special surprises. 

Participatory Erg: Race 4702 meters from the comfort of your home! Competitors may row their piece on any rowing machine that counts distance and submit their time to their RegattaCentral entry during the event week: October 9th - October 18th. Submit an individual time, or select the "Aggregate your Score: Teams of Five" to submit an aggregated score with four other friends. 

Participatory Water: Complete 4702m from your home body of water! Row at least 4702 meters on the water in any boat class* and track your performance using a Smartphone + GPS Tracking App, GPS watch, or NK SpeedCoach with Training Pack. Once you have completed your performance, save your session and export your performance file (either a .GPX, .FIT., or .TCX file) to a computer. 

Submissions will be done through a personalized email link sent directly from Time-Team to the email address used in RegattaCentral. You will receive this email within an hour after registration. If you have not received your personal link, let us know via [email protected] and we will resend the link. The submission portal will open October 9th and close at 11:59pm ET on October 18th. 

Upload your session's export to the Time-Team portal and confirm your submission. Results will be displayed here on RegattaCentral AND on https://rowingtracker.com/hocr/2020.
