Despite Sunday's early morning wind and rain the McCovey Cove Regatta to place.  After evaluating weather and water conditions race directors JD Durst and Racheal Perry made the decision to move forward with holding the regatta.  It was decided that the full 15K course would be run with the shorter 10K Bay Bridge course as an option.  As you can see from the results all but 1 competed in the full course.

Many competitors were skeptical as they stood in line to launch but as soon as boats were clear from the dock rowers could see that the bay had smoothed out and the winds had subsided enough for everyone to have an enjoyable regatta experience.  

As the shell rowers completed the course the wind started to pick up and soon the rain was back.  The last 15 minutes or so of the race were wet for the whitehall competitors - and timers on the pier.  Everyone finished the race and were greeted with a hand on the dock and great lunch and brews from local Dolphin brewmaster Ryan Dalton.

The DC would like to thank its many volunteers for sticking around to make this event possible.  JD and I look forward to seeing you all next year.
