2024 North Tahoe Regatta Results

Despite wind, waves, wildfire smoke, and thunderstorms earlier in the week, the conditions for this year's regatta were absolutely magnificent - the best we could possibly have hoped for, perhaps even the best EVER! The water was flat calm at race time, with barely a ripple, the air was clear, and there was no wind whatsoever. Just beautiful and warm!

New events were held, and old records fell. We held our first-ever youth event, with four boys doubles running the short course. Notably, the winners of that race from Los Gatos Rowing Club set the overall course record in the double, smashing the previous record set in 2005 by almost a minute! They even beat all the quads!!!

Speaking of quads, we also had our first quad races ever, with both womens and mixed boats from Bair Island Aquatic Center entered. We hope to see more "big" boats on the water in the future. Hopefully the SF clubs can bring their coastal quads next year and tackle the long course.

For the first time ever, a woman completed the Ultra Long Course. McKenzie Owen from Open Water Rowing Center set the standard with a time of 2:37:01.

A new standard was set in the Mixed Coastal Double. James Dilworth and Vanessa Marlin from South End Rowing Club made a last-minute switch from the Long Course to the Short Course, and brought home a new record in that event. They now hold the Mixed Coastal 2x records on both courses!

Finally, Dana Foley from Bair Island Aquatic Center set a new Short Course record Womens Flat Water 1x.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, and most especially to the 23 volunteers (also a new record!) that helped ensure a safe, successful, and enjoyable day for our competitors. See you next August!
