Desert Sprints

  • Hosted By: Tempe Rowers Association
  • 2016 Registered Regatta

VENUE

Tempe Town Lake is a man-made body of water located on the northern edge of downtown Tempe. The lake is two miles long and between 200 and 240 meters wide. There are bladder dams located at the east and west end of the lake, and it is a perfect venue for sprint racing.

The Open and Junior races will all be 1500 meters, with a slight dog-leg to starboard as you pass under the bridge (500M gone). The last 1000M is dead straight. All Mixed and Masters races will be 1000 meters and we will be using US Rowing handicaps for the Masters Events.

The event headquarters is at the SRP Town Lake Marina, home of the Tempe Town Lake Rowing Club and the ASU Club Rowing Program. This location is where teams will have plenty of room to store their trailers and spread their equipment out on the grassy knoll along the lake. In addition, it offers clear viewing of 1000 meters of the race course including the finish line. Tempe Town Lake and the SRP Marina are truly jewels in the desert.
