Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) Canadian Masters Championships

  • Hosted By: Burnaby Lake Rowing Club

Well known for its calm and protected waters, Burnaby Lake has been home for rowers, paddlers and kayakers alike since 1929.

After undergoing improvements and dredging, Burnaby Lake hosted the 1973 Canada Summer Games and soon thereafter became a mecca for local and national rowing programs, in addition to canoeing and kayaking. Many regattas and Canadian National training camps were held at the lake during the 1970’s and 1980’s.

A re-dredging project in 2011 brought Burnaby Lake back to its full capacity as a buoyed 6-lane racecourse and is now one of the premiere rowing venues in B.C. The lake is home to the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club, Simon Fraser University Rowing Club, Burnaby Lake Canoe and Kayak Club and frequently hosts national level training camps and masters regattas.

Just 11km from downtown Vancouver and a few minutes from the city of Burnaby, Burnaby Lake is an ideal location for RCA's 2014 Canadian Masters Championship. For more information on Burnaby Lake, the cities of Burnaby and Vancouver please see the regatta website: http://rcamasters.ca/
