The 1000m course will run from the middle of the 2000m course from south to north and begin using starting platrforms.  There will be an opening in the attenuator, in front of the platforms where crews will enter the course from the side and lock on.  

The starter will in all likelyhood be using the standard start, polling the crews then announcing "Attention", followed by each lane having a silent red light, then a green light, as is used in drag racing.  In that scenario, the starter does not raise a red flag, drop it, and announce "Go".
