Lift Bridge Regatta

  • Hosted By Fairport Crew Club
  • 2016 Registered Regatta

The regatta is held on the beautiful Erie Canal in Fairport, NY.

Races will start in the early morning and conclude in early afternoon.Master, Scholastic, Sculling and Sweep events will be held for both Men and Women.

Racing will begin at the Flood Gates near the I-490 Interstate and finish at the Famous Lift Bridge in the Village of Fairport. The course is approximately 5.500 meters. The Novice Course is typically shortened, starting between Ayrault Rd and the Powerlines.

The Fairport Crew Boathouse is roughly 2/3 through the race. Launching and Docking will be done at the FCC docks. The boathouse is located on a portion of Perinton Park which extends from 2/3 through the race through the finish just past the Lift Bridge in Faiport.

The Erie Canal towpath runs the entire length of the race and beyond. Only a part of the path is paved.The rest is crushed rock. It is great for watching the entire race.Biking is permitted although it is advisable to keep bikes out of the boathouse area.

We would like to discourage bringing dogs to the regatta. They will have a better time at home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be a Food Vendor at the race. Anyone who wishes may bring money to purchase food from the vendor.
All spectators are asked to park at the large parking lot for Qualitrol Company, LLC, next door to the Fairport Crew Club boathouse at 1385 Fairport Road (Route 31F), Fairport, New York. The entire parking lot is available, and is only a short walk on the same side of the street to the boathouse. The entrance is opposite O'Connor Road.
Please do not park at Perinton Park (listed as "Spectator Parking" in the photograph, below). Crossing Route 31F at that location is risky, and the pavilion is in use this year by another group. For handicapped parking, only, use the upper parking lot at Perinton Park, and walk, or use your wheel chair, on the towpath to get to the boathouse (a relatively level pathway). An aerial photograph showing the correct location of spectator parking is below, beneath this photograph showing parking for competators.
Restrooms are available in Perinton Park and in the boathouse. We ask that all spectators use the Perinton Park restrooms or the portable toilets near the boathouse and reserve the boathouse restrooms for athletes. Below is a photograph showing the correct location for spectator parking.
