4/14/11:  Boat trailers can start arriving at 8:00am tomorrow (Friday).   The boat ramp lot will be the preferred lot, then the Sunbury and Walnut secondary.  Food trailers can arrive anytime after 1:00 tomorrow.  They MUST park curbside, near the tent area.  We are reserving both lots completely for boat trailers.  The curb land will have cones and an arrow board up early Friday afternoon.
can start arriving with boat trailers at 8:00am tomorrow.

There will be NO parking on the northbound (EAST) curb lane of Sunbury Rd.  That side is reserved for food trailers, drop off zone and bus parking,  We encourgae the buses to pakr on Sunbury farther north. It is too chaotic when they go offsite and try to retuen at the end of the day!

There will be a Friday evening weigh in window for lightweight from 5:30 - 6:30.  Rowers must weigh in as a boat. Weighins will also run Sat morning starting at 7:00am.  Rowers may weigh in either Fri or Sat.  There are no time restrictions.

We will be running head races for all novice boats to qualify.  Top 6 in each race will row a spring in the finals.  Coxs:  You MUST know how to back into a start platform and scull (one execption- Mens Nov 8 B- #8 only has 6 rowers.  They will row a head race final).

4/13/11: What about the weather?:
Our new dock area is well protected.  If fact, between the docks and the start is well protected. We have a contingency back-up plan, where we can switch to head race format in 30 minutes if the wind becomes so bad that we can't lock onto the start platforms. If that should happen, we will call a coaches meeting and then pass out team packets with pre-assigned bow numubers.
In the meantime - we are going to think positively!
4/11/11: GPS:
135 S. Sunbury Rd, Westerville OH 43081, will put you right across the street from the regatta shelter house.

4/10/11: Clarification:
The Hoover Invitational does not adhere to the same rules as the scholastic type regattas.  Our only restrictions are as follows:
If you have a JV8, you must have a varsity 8 entered.  If you have a JV 4, you must have a varsity 4 entered.  There are no restrictions of age or grade in either category.
Lightweight Men- 160  Lightwomen - 130. There will be a one hour window from 5:30 - 6:30 on Friday evening to weigh in at the Walnut St shelter house (Regatta Central). Otherwise, weighins will open at 7:00am on Saturday.  There are no time restrictions for weighing in.

The Hoover Invitational has a new feature to allow instant viewing of the results.  It works through the Twitter technology.

As results of each event are recorded in our timing program, the results are read by a separate program, parsed to include only the bare essentials and further abbreviated to less than 140 characters (the Twitter maximum). This abbreviated form of the results are then transmitted to www.Twitter.com automatically, all within about 1 second.  Anyone following the account "HooverInvite" on Twitter will, in turn, see the results in seconds on their cell phone, avoiding a walk to the results board or the need to repeatedly check a website. Within seconds of the finish, hundreds of cell phones will beep and results are shown in a typical cell message.

Sample results can be viewed at: http://twitter.com/#search?q=HooverInvite, but they are uniform in their appearance:

The website www.HooverInvitational.org has more information, including aerial shots of the new much larger staging area.  Another 48' dock has been added, as well as more speakers.  A video camera will be mounted at the start, along with long-range WiFi to allow the video stream to be viewed at the shelter (our "regatta central").

I look forward to seeing all of you on the 16th.

Best wishes,
