I would like to invite you to the 48th MACRA Regatta to be held at Comstock Riverside Park on the Grand River in Grand Rapids, MI on Saturday, April 28'th, 2012. The Grand River is one of the greatest venues in the Midwest for a regatta. The straight 2000 meter, partially buoyed course is downstream and is not affected by boat traffic.  A bicycle path follows the length of the course and there is ample space for parking and viewing the entire race along this course.

The MACRA Regatta was founded in the spring of 1965 by the Purdue University Crew Club to foster rowing in the Midwest. Since the founding of the Association, the regatta has moved throughout the Midwest. The membership voted to hold the 2006 and 2008 regatta in Athens, Ohio. In 2006 the coaches voted to alternate the MACRA between a North and South venue on an alternating year basis. In 2011the race site was Indianapolis and this year (2012) it is in the North. We are hopeful that everyone stays involved in this event that was built by famous coaches like the late Ralph Lindamood at Marietta College and by many other crews throughout the Midwest.

The Grand Rapids Rowing Association (LOC) and West Michigan Sports Commission are honored to have this opportunity and we plan put on a fair and exciting regatta. We hope you enjoy the 2012 MACRA Regatta and look forward to seeing this event return to Grand Rapids in the near future.
