The Heart of Texas runs annually in March, making it one of the first sprint races of the Spring. The Heart is is a 1000 meter sprint race held on Town Lake in Austin, Texas. All types of events are offered - 1x to 4x, 2- to 8+. Youth, Junior, Collegiate, Open, Masters, Novice and Recreational catagories are run.
The Austin Rowing Club first ran the Heart of Texas Regatta in 1983 primarily for visiting college crews, with little more than old soda bottles for lane markers. The event has grown to include Masters and Junior events and a much better, 7 lane, fully bouyed course!
