In 2010, Monika Dorman, a Port Washington resident who had rowed for many years in the waters around the peninsular, brought together a group of rowers and community leaders to pursue her vision of a rowing club for the children of Port Washington. The rowers – Monika; Mitch Tamkin, a former high school and college rower; and Bo Hansen, a former Danish National Lightweight rower and the community advocates, including Trish Quirk, formed Friends of Port Rowing and the work began. This group recruited Steve Panzik to be head coach, and Port Rowing was born.
We are now bringing you the Second Annual Gold Coast classic Indoor Regatta with a "Team Points trophy", named after our founder, Monika Dorman Team Points Award.
