A passion with ancient origins

We've been rowing on Lake Varese for over 5,000 years. That's why we have such an innate passion for rowing; it's deeply rooted in our history and our land. The challenge of rowing began back in prehistoric times as a means of survival and has continued to evolve over the centuries into a wonderful way to enjoy these calm, flat waters. Rowing was so popular that the Società Canottieri Varese was established in 1927 and has continued to play a major role in life on these shores ever since. 1960 marked the start of another prestigious club that had just as much success at sailing the waters of Lake Varese - the "Canottieri Gavirate". Once again groups of men and women enjoy life thanks to the lake. And now the lake is coming to life through rowing.
