Since 1974, the Miami Rowing Club (now known as the Miami Rowing & Watersports Center) has hosted an international rowing regatta for high school, masters, and open rowers. The regatta boasts over 1000 rowers from around the state, country, and world. In 1982, the regatta was the venue for the US Rowing Junior National Championships.
