Dear Competitors, Coaches and Friends –

We are delighted you are going to join us for the Head of the Housatonic Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 12, in Shelton, CT.  It looks like we will have fair weather for the day, which will make it that much more special.  Here are a few last-minute tips & reminders for everyone.  Please share this information with anyone who may attend the regatta.

PARKING & ACCESS TO INDIAN WELL STATE PARK (IWSP)

The only vehicles permitted to enter IWSP for the regatta are 1) boat trailers, 2) cars with boats on top, 3) team buses, and 4) cars with valid handicapped parking stickers.

In addition, vendors and teams that rented tent sites have already been issued parking passes for IWSP. These parking passes must be displayed to Shelton Police before entering the park.  Shelton Police will not allow ANY vehicles into the park other than the ones listed above.

All other vehicles must go directly to our offsite parking location and use our free shuttle buses to get into the park.  Offsite parking opens at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, and the first shuttle bus will leave for IWSP at 6:30 a.m.  You should allow for 30 minutes of transit time during peak regatta hours.

For GPS purposes, the parking is located at 2 Corporate Drive in Shelton, CT, but follow the signs for Head of the Housatonic parking upon arrival.

ARRIVAL TIME

Boat trailers can enter IWSP from 12-5:30 p.m. Friday, and from 5:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday.  A New Haven Rowing Club member will direct you to the proper parking area upon arrival.

TENT SITES

For those programs that rented tent sites for the regatta, volunteers will be on hand at IWSP to assist you in getting to the right location.

REGISTRATION

Registration packets for competitors and teams will be located in the administration tent at IWSP.  Crews launching from Yale and New Haven Rowing Club will pick up their registration packets at those locations.

PAYMENT

All accounts must be fully paid at time of registration.  We will not issue bow numbers to competitors or programs that have not paid their entry fees by regatta day.  We cannot accept credit cards on regatta day, so if you want to pay by credit card, please do so via Regatta Central.  If you are paying by check on regatta day, please make check payable to New Haven Rowing Club.

COXSWAINS MEETING

The meeting for coaches and coxswains will take place at 7:30 a.m. at the administration tent in IWSP.  Coxes who are competing in the Head of the Housatonic for the first time are especially encouraged to attend.
