COURSE MAP

MORNING COFFEE AND BREAKFAST STOP:  There will be coffee and light breakfast items available for purchase from 6:30a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

CAFE GAR Menu:  Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Sweet Potato Salad, Pasta Salad, Beans, Cole Slaw and Drinks.  These items are for purchase. The food at this regatta is going to be very good, our grill master will start smoking the meats at midnight the night before and cookin’ all night!

T-SHIRTS:  There are many choices and something for everyone. We will have long sleeve, short sleeve, tank tops, and many different colors to choose from (even tie dye). All teams’ names are listed on the back of the shirts! These shirts have been pre-printed so they will last a long time! Please visit our T-Shirt Tent and find your favorite shirt, credit cards will be taken at this location.

VENUE:  Earl P Powers Boat Launch on Newnans Lake 5902 SE Hawthorne Road. Gainesville, FL 32601

PARKING:  There is parking for Team Trailers, food trailers, and coaches.  There is an unloading area for buses and for cars.  All vehicles are then asked to proceed to Eastside High School 1201 SE 43rd Street, exactly 2 miles away.  Parking is $5.00.  THERE WILL BE SHUTTLES RUNNING ALL DAY.

TEAM TENTS:  There is room for each team tent but the food trailers will need to be parked in the lot and food, supplies and tent brought to assigned spots.    The walk will be less the length of a football field depending on where you set up.  Please bring a wagon to transport your items.  Grilling is allowed.  We will be assigning spots but they are all wonderful and this is a fantastic staging area.

VIEWING:  There is a pier at Powers Park and will provide excellent views of the end of the race course.

PALM POINT:  There is a second viewing location, Palm Point Park, it is 2 miles away on Lake Shore Drive.  There will be shuttles running on the hour to Palm Point.  There is very, very limited parking so we ask that you please use the shuttle we have provided, it is free. Palm Point will have bleachers for viewing a very clear and close view of the mid-point of the race course.  There will be a small concession stand for drinks and snacks and a First Aid station available.

BIKING TO PALM POINT: Because Palm Point is only 2 miles away, you may choose to ride a bike down there to view the races. To do so, turn right out of Powers Park and proceed to about ½ mile to Lake Shore Drive and turn right. Lake Shore Drive is a two-lane somewhat quiet but very beautiful road that follows the lake. It DOES NOT have a bike lane and cars are not always accommodating to pedestrians on that road. Please wear a helmet and be very careful on this road. It would be a beautiful ride for an experienced adult but not a safe ride for small children on bikes.
