 2006 Annual Convention Highlights                   

Level I Coaching Education Certification - $190

Description: This level is designed for someone who isseriously considering coaching the sport of rowing and who has not previouslybeen USRowing coaching certified. This is an introductory course that isexcellent for college students, recent graduates, parents or those who are juststarting out in coaching.

Session Times:Thursday, November 30, 2006 (2:00 – 6:00 p.m.); Friday, December 1, 2006 (8:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) Test is given at the conclusion of Friday's lectures.

Clinicians: Jim Buckalew, Larry Laszlo and Ed Maxwell

Level II Coaching Education Certification - $245

Description: This level is designed for a beginning coachwho has held a USRowing Coaching Education Program Level I certificate for atleast six months. This clinic is perfect for those coaches who have beencoaching for at least one year.

Level III Coaching Education Clinics - $300

Description: This level is designed for an intermediatecoach, who has been USRowing Level II certified for at least one year and mayhold a position such as a first-time high school, club or collegiate head coachor may be an experienced assistant coach. The Level III courses are for thosecoaches who have coached a minimum of five years.

Advanced Level Coaching Series - $200

Description: These clinics are for those coaches who havepassed the Level III certification or have been coaching for a minimum of sevenyears.

Steve Gladstone:  Cal Berkeley Men's Head Coach, 11 time coachof IRA winning crews.

Larry Gluckman: Trinity College Head Men's Rowing Coach. Formerlyhead men's coach at Princeton and DartmouthUniversities, and currently at Trinity College.

Shelley Johnson:Assistant Director at the UNC Leadership Academy.Shelley will present on leadership more specifically addressing how coaches canidentify, develop and partner with student-athlete leaders.

Sergei B. Beliaev,PH.D – Founder and President of Super Sport Systems. Super Sport Systemswill work with you to design, implement, and monitor training programs for yourathletes.  Dr. Beliaev's training systemis already being used by a handful of rowing coaches and successful coachesfrom other sports, for more information see the web site at http://www.supersportsystems.com/

Diversity in Rowing –The USRowing Task Force on Access, Affordability and Diversity presents aninter-active panel-discussion on overcoming the obstacles that barfull-participation in American rowing. Stand-alone programs; integrated programs; summer outreach; recruiting;funding: hear the candid comments of those who are doing it.  Panelists will include Row New York, Jack London AquaticCenter, Row Tampa, G-Row Boston, Chicago Training Centerand others. 

Tim Searles - TheRowing Repair Centerwas founded in 2000, by Tim Searles, President; the company has grown andgained national recognition as THE choice for professional service of rowingshells.

Izzy Brown – Nutrition and EatingDisorders. Helping coaches recognize eating disorders and address sportsnutrition for rowers with particular attention paid to carbohydrate needs andhydration.

 NK Presentation – Training with Speed byFrank Butler. Definition of speed and training factors. Address the methods ofmeasurement and physical challenges. New products and adoption to internationalrowing. 

Dr. Tim Hosea –will be speaking on the topic of lightweight weigh-ins.

  • USRowing Awards Reception – Friday 6:30pm. USRowing is hosting a cocktail-attire Awards Reception honoring the most dedicated and outstanding members of the rowing community. Awards reception is open to all registered convention participants. Hors d'oeuvers and two drink tickets included; cash bar to follow.
  • Join our local host organization Rose City Rowing Club Saturday evening for a night of fun. Details will follow soon.
