                                                                      Strong Island Sprints

Years Ago, when St Anthony's High School Crew team was looking for an off-season competition.  They decided to create their own because of the lack of erg races at the time.  The landscape was set for the inception of the Strong Island Sprints (S.I.S.).

Previously hosted in the St Anthony's gymnasium, this indoor erg competitionhas seen more than 3,000 competitors over the years head to the South Huntington school.

In a very short period of time, the strong island sprints has grown to become the largest erg competition in the try-state area, and has seen competitors come from all over the east coast.  Ithas seen participation nearly double from that first year ofcompetition.  In addition, it has hosted its fair of world class talent including Rich Mangione, the 2007 second fastest lightweight junior in the world and many other rowers from all programs who have moved on to elite collegiate programs such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and many more.

The 2011 Strong Island Sprints ushered in a new era, as they moved to a new home in the brand new 140,000 square foot state of the art student center at St Anthony's High School. There are 15 categories of racing for all ages and weights.

We want to thank all programs and schools who have continued to make this erg competition a great success over the years.

Good luck to all this year.
