 The Shoebie Cup Invitational Regatta

Co-Hosted by Mount and Holy Spirit girls

The Mount and Holy Spirit have long been friendly rivals across all girls sweep events…often ending races as 1 –2, with only seconds separating the crews.  On their own, the girls have developed a strong bond, measuring themselves against each other, and supporting each other against other top crews.

The Shoebie Cup Invitational Regatta was an idea that has been in the coaches' minds for some time.  With the development of the rowing scene "in progress" on the Mount's home turf in Conshohocken, the opportunity to hold a top-class invitational regatta was undertaken in earnest.  The Schuylkill River in Conshohocken is a fantastic rowing site, with an excellent 3 to 4 lane course right in front of the Mount Boathouse.

Why the Shoebie Cup, you ask?

Most people in the area have heard the term "Shoebie" if they have ever set foot on the South Jersey shore.  Day-trippers from Philly have historically been called "Shoebies" for generations…

The Shoebie Cup Invitational has 2 trophies:

The Sara LaSalle-Tarantin Cup

The Senior 8+ Trophy is named in honor of Sara Lasalle-Tarantin, a Mount Crew Mom who passed away in 2005.  Sara was the mother of one of the Mount captains and Senior 8+ members, Marissa '04, and a strong supporter of Mount Crew.

The Shoebie Cup

A points trophy has been established and named.... The Shoebie Cup!  Points are accrued based on the PSRA points system (see www.phillyflicks.com for more info).
