Novice Regatta

Lake Brantley Rowing Association, will host the Annual Novice Regatta on Saturday, February 11, 2017. The regatta will be at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake Park, 3401 South Hiawassee Rd. Orlando, Fl. 32835.

Parking: Ample trailer, bus and auto parking will be available at the race site. The city of Orlando collects a $5 per vehicle parking fee. Bus parking charges are as follows per the City of Orlando- $1.00 per person, or a $30.00 max fee. The parking lot will be unlocked until 5:30 PM on Friday, prior to the regatta, for teams arriving early. Please do not leave cars or trucks in the area designated for trailer parking. The parking area will re-open at 5:30 AM on the morning of the regatta.

Participants: This regatta is open to all boys and girls rowing for schools and/or clubs. A rower may only represent one Club or High School, not both.

NOARA online waivers are required for this regatta. Submit your NOARA Waiver.
Note: If you are a masters rower (e.g. your team is not scholastic), please select "unaffiliated" from the pulldown on the waiver form.

No rower will be allowed to compete without a completed Waiver Form on file

 

Regatta Rules: The 2017 Novice Regatta will follow the FSRA Scholastic Regatta Rules for spring 2016. The rules can be found at www.floridarowing.org

Registration Fees and Deadline: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE February 4, 2017.

Scratch Fees: A $25 scratch fee per race will be in effect immediately following the Coaches and Cox Meeting on Saturday morning,race day.

Late Entries: Schools or clubs with outstanding fees or scratch fees will not be permitted to participate until fees are paid in full.

Coaches and Cox Meeting: There will be a mandatory meeting at the pavilion near the  Boone Crew boathouse at 6:45 AM on the morning of the regatta.

****Please note: this year we will hold a special cox meeting specifically for middle school. This meeting will take place at 11am near the Boone Crew boathouse****

Bow balls, Bow markers and Shoes: No boat will be permitted on the water without a bow ball and quick-release shoes. Each team should supply it's own bow markers and have the correct lane number (1-6) fitted to the bow prior to each race.

Seeding- As determined by the regatta committee

Tents: Tents will be permitted in designated areas only. Tents can be erected no earlier than 3:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017.

Boat trailer parking:  Ample boat trailer parking will be available in designated areas. Boat trailer parking is available after 3:00 PM on Friday February 10, 2017 .Although security will be provided from Friday 6:00 PM through Saturday at 6:00 AM, boat and trailer parking is at your own risk. .

Practice: Friday , February 10, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Rowers must be off the water by 5:00 PM. The park will close at 6:00 PM.

Eligibility: A rower may only represent one Club or High School, not both.

Must be a Novice (Youth)-rowing less than 1 year in high school (first time rowing in high school.). Elementary and Middle school participation are not accounted for. A novice ( Youth) sculler is one that has been sculling in any capacity since June 2016.

Flight and Lane Assignments:  The number of flights will be determined after all registrations are received. Final flight and lane assignments will be determined by Febuary 8th, 2017 and the final schedule of events will be posted on www.regattacentral.com

Awards: Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place finished in each final.

*****Must be a CREW to recieve a medal. *****

Merchandise and Concessions: Available on-site after 8:00AM. Food Concessions on site serving breakfast and lunch.  Race t-shirts will also be available on site.  Auction and raffle's will also be available.

Posting of Race Results: Results will be posted and updated near the announcer's pavilion throughout the day of the race, and announced periodically over the public address
