Our gorgeous James River was recently named as one of the world's 'Top 10 riverways to row down before you die'. Click for Article

The Head of the James Regatta is located at Robious Landing Park, 3800 James River Road, Midlothian, Virginia in northern Chesterfield County on the south bank of the James River. Only 10 miles from downtown Richmond, Virginia, the incredible 101-acre park is adjacent to James River High School. The site includes easy parking for team trailers, picnic shelters, permanent modern restrooms, a children's playground, and nearly 3 miles of nature trails in addition to access to the James River.  Food trucks will be here all day for breakfast and lunch foods. The best part - parking and admission are both absolutely FREE!

General parking will be at James River High School and spectators/rowers will walk to the park - there is no charge for parking or park entry! Trailers should continue into the park and look for a volunteer to assist you with parking. With prior approval, team food captains may continue into the park and may park a single vehicle near your team tent, provided there is enough space. Our most common question: YES gas grills with open flames are permitted at the park, provided they are not within 8 feet of any park structure, and they request that you bring a fire extinguisher, although it's optional.

Handicap parking is available, but limited, so dropoffs are preferred if possible so that we may preserve these spaces for the most in need.

See driving directions for details.

Through a cooperative, public/private effort between the County of Chesterfield and the Virginia Boat Club, the Virginia Boat Club manages the Robious Landing Boathouse and dock for the benefit of the rowing community.  Currently, the Virginia Boat Club Masters, James River High School, River City Crew, and occasionally the University of Richmond and VCU crew teams row from this facility.
