We are very excited to be hosting this year's GatorHead right here at
and look forward to providing a good course that is also Novice friendly. The 7,500 acre lake that borders Newnans Lake East Gainesville is surrounded by stately cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, Sabal palms, and other native trees and plants. Wildlife watching along its shores includes wading birds and nesting bald eagles and osprey. (Because of the abundant wildlife in the area, we strongly emphasize that it would be best to leave dogsat home for this event. Insect repellent is also recommended). Home to both Gainesville Area Rowing and Florida Crew, the 's rowing club, the lake is a great spot for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and biking. Bicycles are recommended to ease the 1.5 mile commute from the boat launching area to the spectator area at Palm Point. University of Florida
