Here we go - your latest update:

Schedule: it should be close to final now, assuming that we don't have many scratches.
https://www.regattacentral.com/v3/cms/regatta/5338/heat_sheet
Schedule and bow numbers will go into HereNow tomorrow.

Scratches: if you have them, please send them along as soon as you know. This goes for race day as well - it'll help us stay on time if we're not wondering where your boat is.

Course: reminder that we're using both the boathouse and the beach for launching, and we are using the 1500 meter course, which will run from the 500 to the 2k finish line.

E-mail from 5/20/18 (if you did not receive this e-mail, contact [email protected] to be put on the coaches' mailing list - coaches only, of course):

Hi coaches, one week to go!

Please see below for my original e-mail from last week about Entries, Rosters, Waivers, Lineups, Payments, Seeding, and Eligibility rules.

This week's update - lots of news and answers to FAQs!

Coxswain expectations: our chief referee has kindly written up a "coxswain standards" document for all teams. All coxswains (and scullers) are expected to have the skills outlined here: http://mpsra.org/wp-content/uploads/MPSRA-Coxswain-Standards.pdf

Note that if boats are not able to lock onto stakeboats 2:00 prior to their race start, the officials reserve the right to exclude that entry, at their discretion.

Launch requested! For safety reasons, we are looking for one more launch (including motor) for race day. If you are able to provide a launch + motor, the MPSRA will grant you one free entry. Wakeless preferred, of course, but obviously not many teams have them - so we'll take what we can get. Please contact me as soon as possible.

Volunteers! If you have extra kids, coaches, or QUALIFIED parents, we are always in need of more people for various volunteer jobs. Send them to the registration desk. Shifts available - they need not commit to the entire day. We'll give them a shirt and lunch.

Entries: they're not due until Wednesday, but we'd like to post a DRAFT schedule by Tuesday morning, so that you may all use it to update your entries, if necessary, before the deadline. Naturally, the schedule depends on the number of entries - so we greatly appreciate you putting in your intended entries by Monday evening.

Scratches: up until Wednesday at 11:59 PM, you may delete your entries without penalty. Beyond that, any scratches are your responsibility, and you will still owe the entry fee. The exception is if we cancel an event due to low entries (this is rare and usually only happens for small boat events when there is only one team entered) - then you will not be expected to pay that fee.

While you're planning your entries: no doubling, except between disciplines (sweep, sculling*, and coxing are all different disciplines). This is outlined clearly in the MPSRA by-laws; please don't ask us to make exceptions, because we won't do it. If you double between disciplines, it's your responsibility to make sure the schedule works for those athletes. This applies to all athletes, including coxswains. it also should go without saying that only novice-eligible athletes (for both rowers and coxswains) are allowed in novice events.

*Exception: the new Inclusion 2x is an exhibition event, so you may have athletes double into another sculling event, if you wish. Again, it's your responsibility to make sure the schedule works.

Progression for sweep events:

1-6 entries: final only

7 entries: time trial, top 5 to A final, rest to B final

8-12 entries: time trial, top 6 to A final, rest to B final

13 entries: time trial, top 6 to A final, next 5 to B final, rest to C final

14-18 entries: time trial, top 6 to A final, next 6 to B final, rest to C final

Medals will be awarded based on the number of entries:

2 or 3 boats: gold only

4 boats: gold and silver

5+ boats: gold, silver, bronze

Trophies: must be delivered to the registration desk before the c&c meeting. WW, BAB, CRLS, DBMS, Medford - this means you! The full list is here: http://mpsra.org/?page_id=103

Trailers: as usual, you may bring your trailer on Saturday, if you wish to do so.

C&C meeting: 7:00 AM at the boathouse. All teams must have at least one representative, otherwise you receive a team-wide warning for all entries.

Launch sites: we will be using both the boathouse and the beach.

Bow numbers: make sure you have them, and you use them (for all finals). We'll provide them for the time trials.

Questions? Yes, there are probably more - please send them along. Thanks!

Waivers: This is a USRowing-registered event. Athletes must have a USRowing waiver submitted online.

Lineups: Please make sure your CORRECT lineups are listed in RegattaCentral no later than May 26th. As a reminder, athletes (rowers and coxswains) may not double race at the Spring Championship, except between sweep and sculling events.

We WILL be checking rosters, waivers, and lineups!

Payments: Please pay online via RegattaCentral by May 27th! Teams will not be allowed to race if payments (or proof of payment) have not been received.

Seeding: Please e-mail your results to [email protected]. As a reminder, you must have a minimum of 3 seeding events against other MPSRA teams for 1st Varsity 8+s and 1st Varsity 4+s. For all other events, you must have a minimum of 2 seeding events. If you do not have seeding results, that boat will still be allowed to race, but will be placed at the end of the seeding order.

Additional info: Please review additional information about eligibility, seeding, and racing in the MPSRA By-Laws, Article IX (Procedural Rules): http://mpsra.org/wp-content/uploads/MPSRA-By-Laws.pdf (specifically: 9.2, 9.3, and 9.6).

Thank you!
