Rockrimmon Ergatta

  • Hosted By: Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club

The Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit which operates a recreational facility in the North End of Springfield with the mission to promote river-based sporting activities, to develop river access, and encourage recreation in the Greater Springfield metropolitan area.

Built in 1901 (the heyday of Springfield rowing), the Rockrimmon Boathouse was originally the home of a private rowing club which went bankrupt during the Depression.  While several high school and collegiate rowing programs called it home for the next 40 years, the sport virtually disappeared from the city in the early 1970s.  In 2012, the City of Springfield granted PVRC the right to operate the boathouse as a riverfront amenity and community resource.

2018 will mark the 5th annual indoor rowing event hosted by PVRC.  There's not much more to it.  Show up, pull hard, enjoy some time with community, drink a smoothie fresh from the smoothie bike, shower, and go home. Sometimes we have some additional entertainment. We'll keep you posted.
