Age and Category Definitions of Competitors

Under 14
Age 13 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive

If you are turning 14 in 2018 you must row Junior B Novice

Junior B Novice
Age 13 – 15 to December 31 2018 inclusive

If you are turning 17 in 2018 you must row Junior A Novice
Open to Novice athletes in their first year of rowing

Junior A Novice
Age 18 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive
Open to Novice athletes in their first year of rowing

Under 15
Age 14 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive
If you are turning 15 in 2018 you must row Under 16

Under 16
Age 15 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive
If you are turning 17 in 2018 you must row Junior

Junior B
Age 16 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive
If you are turning 17 in 2018 you must row Junior

Age 18 and under to December 31 2018 inclusive

Para Races
Refer to the Adaptive Rowing Classifications used by Rowing Canada.
Please select the statement that best applies to your Adaptive rowing ability.  

Coxswain
Racing / training experience limited to role of coxswain having coxed a rowing race in a sanctioned regatta at least once during the 2017 regatta season.
There are no age or weight restrictions.

University
Registered in a Full Time Program at a recognized Canadian or U.S. University or College

Novice University
Registered in a Full Time Program at a recognized Canadian or U.S. University or College.  Must not have competed in a sanctioned regatta prior to September 2017.

Parent / Offspring
Must be legal guardian or biologically related as per categories listed.
Any combination of father/son, mother/son, father/daughter, mother/daughter, or grandparent.

Lightweight
Male maximum weight of 165 lbs / 75 kg
Female maximum weight of 135 lbs / 61 kg

Windows for weigh-ins will be a one hour long, starting two hours before their race, and ending one hour before.  Each athlete will have one attempt at weighing in.  Failure to weigh-in will result in being moved to the Open category’s results.

Masters
Age is as of Race Day and determines Race Category

Categories (male and female) are:
Age 30-39
Age 40-49
Age 50-54
Age 55-59
Age 60-64
Age 65-69
Age 70-74
Age 75-79
Age 80+
