Welcome to the 17th MCI
The 1st MCI was held in August 2002, with 5 Michigan clubs attending. The event now draws over 220 entries from more than 25 different clubs!
Argo Pond has hosted nationally competitive rowing since University of Michigan Men's Crew Team began rowing here in 1976. The Ann Arbor Rowing Club (then known as Arbor Rowing) joined them in the early 1980s with just a handful of rowers and boats stored on outdoor racks. The club has grown considerably, becoming more competitive over the years. UM and AARC were joined by Ann Arbor Huron High School's rowing team in 1993, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School's rowing team in 1999, and Sklyline High School in 2009. AARC's current boathouse was constructed in 2001/2002 under a 15 year renewable lease with the City of Ann Arbor. AARC currently has over 200 active members. The club President is Julie Janusz.
Effective January 1, 2012, the Ann Arbor Rowing Club is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization. Qualifying contributions to AARC are tax deductible.
