Race Between the Bridges

  • Hosted By: Hudson River Rowing Association, Inc.

Competitors will race 2000m (Junior and Open) or 1000m (Masters and Novice) on the historic South-End of the "Boys in the Boat"-era IRA course on the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie.  Crews will align through the Second Arch (between the #1 and #2 abutments from shore of the Walkway Over the Hudson/ fmr. Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge) and all races will end at the North Side of the #1 abutment of the Mid-Hudson Bridge/Suspension Bridge.  You can find a Full Course Map w/ Spectating Locations here, and coxswains can get a better idea of how we will organize lanes in our Coxswain/Blind Boat view of Lane Alignments here.

We would like to remind those attending that there will be absolutely no spectator parking on the HRRA/Vassar River Campus site. Only athletes, coaches, and their trailers will be allowed to park at HRRA, and all those who are planning to park or pick-up/drop off rowers on-site should reference our HRRA Regatta Parking/Traffic plan here.  Fortunately for spectators, the South Course offers fantastic views of the last 1000m of racing from a number of parks and trails along the Poughkeepsie waterfront.  You can find these locations and the parking lots in them on our 1000m Course Map w/ Spectator Parking maps here.  If you don't mind a walk, you can also see the whole course from above at Walkway Over the Hudson State Park, with parking located at 61 Parker Street, Poughkeepsie!
