Concord'sdowntown is healthy and vibrant. The successful turnaround of a fadingMain Street into an active hub of community activities, commerce, politics and entertainment was the result of mutual support by thecity, businesses and the community. One of the anchors to NewHampshire's revitalized downtown is a State House crowned by a gleaminggold, eagle-topped dome which can't be missed by motorists passingthrough on I-93.

Themajor restoration project to house the 1,360-seat Capitol Center forthe Arts continues to enjoy tremendous success. The center offers avenue for both nationally- and internationally acclaimed performers aswell as local performers. Other cultural sites include the Museum ofNew Hampshire History, Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum, Pierce Manse,Concord City Auditorium and the Kimball-Jenkins Estate.

Othernearby cultural opportunities include Canterbury Shaker Village inCanterbury, the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium here in Concord and theGould Hill Apple Orchard in Hopkinton, all of which are not mereattractions but learning experiences.
