13th Annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Regatta

The Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational (BL4kTT) is a 4k time trial with a 250m sprint for the top finishers in each boat class. Regatta champions for men's and women's 1x, 2x and 2- are based on combined 4K result and 250 m sprint result. 

Events Offered

4 km Head Race (2 times 2,000 m with one 180 degree turn) + 250m Final for Top 6 Finishers

 1x - Men, Women - Junior, Senior and Master

 2x - Men, Women - Junior, Senior, Master

 2x - Mixed - Junior, Senior, Master

 2- - Men, Women - Junior, Senior, Master 

Time Trial rules: No passing in the last 100 m before the turn.  Passing in the turn zone could result in penalites or disqualification (Umpires decision).  

Penalties: 

  • 1 minute for missing the end turning buoy.
  • 20 seconds for each additional buoy missed before the end turning buoy

Boats in each group will start at 20 to 30 second intervals. The fastest 4 K times (based on raw time + penalties) men's and women's 1x, 2x and 2- will qualify for the 250 m Sprint to determine the overall Regatta Champion for each boat class.

A 6 lane Sprint will take place for boat classes with 8 or more entries. For boat classes with 5-7 entries a 4 lane Sprint will take place. There will be no sprint for boat classes with less than 5 entries.

The Garrett Masters Age Adjusted Time System will be used to determine the winners of the Masters categories in the 4 K TT.

The sprint races will start around 1:30

Please rank your athletes/boats on the registration form for seeding the start order of the 4 K time trial.

Prizes will be handed out at the conclusion of the 250 m sprints. 

The Western Canadian University Championships will take place on Saturday. If you are bringing a boat trailer Saturday afternoon, please leave room of departing trailers to leave the parking area.

NOTE: The Burnaby Lake Pavilion is closed for renovation however, the full grandstand deck is available for use and team tents can be set up to provide shade or shelter from poor weather
