Due to the wildfires that have decimated parts of Los Angeles, and the continuing threat posed to our California operations, we have decided to postpone The James J. Barker Youth Winter Nationals until later this year.  Please check back in the coming weeks for updated information on the new date and times.  Thank you.

The James J. Barker Youth Winter Nationals is a celebration of Jim Barker's years of dedication to, and support of, junior rowing in Philadelphia and gives youth rowers an opportunity to see how they stack up in a national competition.  The qualifying round will be a virtual race powered by RowStream.  The weekend of January 25th & 26th, 2025, participants will pull their best 2,000m piece and submit their scores through the RowStream app(instructions below). The top 10 participants in each age and gender group will be invited to participate in the live championship event on February 2, 2025, which will be held at the University of Pennsylvania's Burk-Bergman Boathouse. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age and gender category. College coaches will be in attendance (full list TBD).

All participants must register through Regatta Central and be a USRowing member. The registration fee is only paid once (if attending both events, participant only pays a fee for the virtual qualifying weekend registration). Fees cover event expenses and a regatta T-shirt.

RowStream erg score submission instructions (screen shots of these steps are posted on the regatta website under registration): 

1. Download RowStream app and create a profile
2. Go to the top left menu and click events
3. Tap the JJBYWN event which will be running on the weekend of the event
4. Click the category you want to participate in and wait for admin approval
