The Sprints @ Nanaimo May 24th 2025

The intention of the regatta is to provide quality racing for those athletes that are not attending the CSSRA regatta. While top athletes are welcome this regatta is designed for the development of Novice and JV athletes. In addition, we’re offering racing for masters of all abilities including those looking for their first racing experience.

The Regatta Entry will be done through Regatta Central

All Races are 1000m in length

FEE STRUCTURE:   In addition to the per athlete daily fee that goes to Rowing BC and Rowing Canada Aviron, the fees per boat to cover the costs of the regatta are:                                                                                    

4X                                $60.00

2X                                 $35.00

1X                                 $20.00

All entries are due on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11:59pm. This is to enable us to set the schedule and get the race schedule back to you. There must be a minimum of Two boats to constitute a race. Fees are due upon entry. There will be no refund of entry fees should weather conditions cause cancellation of races – all expenses are incurred prior to the event. Racing starts at 9:00 am with 8 minute intervals and ends at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Late entries will only be accepted if they do not create new heats.

***Please note that there is limited space at the start line so please have your crews complete their warmup in the warmup area before rowing down to the start area***

We would also like to make this regatta as “Green” as possible. There will be recycling bins placed throughout the park, all regatta participants are encouraged to use these. We all should be professional recyclers by now!!

CATEGORIES

NOVICE These athletes must be in their first year of rowing.  

Sweep and sculling are not treated differently.  

Please adhere to this novice stipulation.

Under 19 18th birthday on or after Jan. 1st, 2025

*exemptions - if rower is full time student in grade 12

Under 17 16th birthday on or after Jan. 1st, 2025

Under 15 14th Birthday on or after Jan 1st,2025

SAFETY

All boats must be equipped with heel tie-downs with a maximum lift of 7 cm and bow balls.

BOW MARKERS

Bow markers will be provided by the regatta. All rowing shells must be equipped with a bow clip.

REGATTA SITE

The regatta is being held at Loudon Park (Long Lake) in Nanaimo. For directions the address is 4295 Victoria Ave, Nanaimo. Concession will be available on site. Please bring your own water bottles – fill up available.
