OCU Head of the Oklahoma

  • Hosted By: OKC Riversport

The Head of the Oklahoma Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has reached the difficult decision to transition this year’s regatta to a virtual format. After careful review and continuous monitoring of the current local health situation, USRowing guidelines, and state and local guidelines the LOC determined that hosting a live, in-person event would create too much risk. Every possible option available was thoroughly evaluated with the conclusion that moving to a socially-distant, virtual race this year was the best option to ensure the safety of our Head of the Oklahoma family.

We understand the challenges you are facing. We are deeply disappointed in the absence of on the water racing on the Oklahoma River this fall, but are looking forward to celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Devon Boathouse, as well as engaging with the greater rowing community in a socially-distanced, virtual manner.

We look forward to being back in-person next year and racing under the lights for the NightSprints at Head of the Oklahoma.

The LOC is working hard to bring our competitors together in a new, unique racing format. Stay tuned for more details later this month regarding virtual racing and fun, new remote events being offered.
