Coaches, athletes and friends,

I have been informed by my board that a pending site construction project that was scheduled to begin after Head of the Buffalo, has now been moved ahead of Saturday, October 14th. Due to the scale of disruption to our site, and reduced dock access, it has been deemed not feasible to host a full scale regatta.

For those of you who attended the race last year, you are aware that we were struck with uncharacteristically terrible weather on the Buffalo River, and were forced to cease all water events. We were still able to conduct erg races inside our facility for those who wanted to race, and distributed medals to athletes. Any team who requested a refund was granted one. Some of you had already signed up to come back this year, and for that I thank you immensely.

Having to cancel this event for the second year in a row has left me gutted to say the least, but this construction project is crucial for the betterment of our site, and will help BSRA become a more inclusive place for disabled athletes. I want to thank each of you for putting this event on your schedule…it really is a unique and challenging course, and I hope to see this race back running in all it’s glory soon. I will begin processing refunds through regatta central, and funds should return to your accounts shortly.
