Medals will be awardedby heat for the races after the course change. We will make arrangements to get those medals to you (either mailing or delivering at the next regatta).

Team Points will be awarded based on the races up to 17a.

RACING UPDATE:

Because of unsafe conditions at the start, The race officials have made the decision to stop running the full race course.

Here is what we are doing:

  • Reversing the course (starting at the finish line)
  • Floating starts
  • Running a 750 meter race
  • The boats on the water will remain and the officials are directing them to the start in an organized fashion.
  • All new times are updated on the Heat Sheet.

  • We are treating 17a as a complete separate race because they were able to race the full course.  17b, 17c, 17d will be together.

  • Thanks for helping us pivot! We are doing our best to keep kids racing!

Welcome to the 26th OARS Invitational!

The Orlando Area Rowing Society will host this event at Bill Frederick Park on Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th.

High School races will take place on Saturday. Masters & Middle School will take place on Sunday. We will continue to offer additional racing opportunities for middle school, including sculling events.

The OARS Invitational Regatta is one of the premier rowing events in the southeast, traditionally attracting more than 1,000 rowers from around Florida and neighboring states. Racing takes place on a 1500m course on Turkey Lake, with races starting every 7 minutes. A complete regatta packet is available here: OARS Invitational 2024

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake and the City of Orlando allow us to host this event. All teams must adhere to the guidelines or may risk dismissal from the park.

New this year:

  • Entries are limited to one entry per team in each event. We will have a waitlist, so please enter early and add waitlist entries. As soon as we can accept waitlist entries, we will. This will help us to manage the overall race day and ensure we can fit all races into the schedule.
  • Bring any Concept 2 Blades that you need repaired. Concept 2 will be on site to service blades.

Park Entrance Fee: There is a park entry fee at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake.  A separate pass will need to be purchased for each vehicle.  Please refer to the link below to determine which type of entrance pass to purchase.  All entrance passes need to be purchased in advance of race day. Bill Frederick Park will not accept cash at the gate. Please share this link with all of your team members, parents, boards & anyone coming to the regatta. https://oarsrowing.sportngin.com/register/form/615588985

Waivers: Because we are using USRowing referees, we have to be sanctioned by USRowing. This also ensures that your teams are covered if you use USRowing Insurance. Everyone must complete the USRowing Waiver.  A new waiver was just updated last week.  Please send this out to all of your members to complete to be compliant for 2024:

  1. Go to https://membership.usrowing.org
  2. Click on Log In under Individuals and log in using your member number and password
  3. On your profile page, click the blue button “Sign Agreement & Waiver” and follow the steps on screen
  4. Done! Thank you for signing the latest version of the waiver
  5. If you are having difficulties, call USRowing directly (609) 751-0700

We will be using the NOARA waiver.  Please direct your teams here: https://waivers.regattacentral.com/fsra2024/  (or here for non-member teams: https://www.noara.org/fsra.php)   This must be completed by Sunday, March 3rd. Any entries without signed waivers will be scratched.

Teams from out of state may run into difficulties with the NOARA/FSRA waiver interface. Please contact [email protected]

If your team is not a member of FSRA,  you'll need to submit a certificate of insurance and NOARA waivers for all participants. You should have each member sign the waiver as unaffiliated.
