CINCINNATI HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT THE CINCINNATI INVITATIONAL SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 12, 2025 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO SEVERE FLOODING IN THE AREA.
We are disappointed and sincerely apologize for the disruption in your plans. The safety of everyone involved is our priority.
High water levels at Harsha Lake and the forecast predicting even more rain make it impossible to proceed with the event. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the area around Harsha Lake as water levels continue to rise. The entire race venue, including the beach house (regatta headquarters) is now underwater and is expected to remain so for several days.
Thank you for your understanding. We will contact each team with further details.

- Standard US Rowing rules of racing apply to this event.
- The course is 2000 meters with a starting platform and is the same course for the Midwest Junior Rowing Championships, May 17-18, 2025.
- The course is declared a no-wake zone and will be controlled by the State of Ohio water police and the East Fork State Park Rangers.
- Park Rangers provide overnight security for the boats and oars. You need to provide your own stands and storage of rigged boats. Please see venue details on Regatta Central for trailer parking location and boat staging areas.
- The order of events will be listed on RegattaCentral once the schedule is finalized. There may be time trials for the Third Varsity Fours in the morning and finals in the afternoon. Please check carefully, to ensure that you can make all necessary accommodation for the double use of boats, oars, and athletes. For crews to hot seat, the final scheduled starting times of the races need to be separated by a minimum of 50 minutes.
- Coxswains and crews will be using a starting platform, and as such they will need to be able to back into a stationary starting float, and at the same time, immediately ready to point the bow. Coxswains (strokes of bow-coxed boats) must also know that they are to have their hands in the air while they are adjusting their point at the start.
- All rowers must be eligible as eighth grade or high school athletes.
- Varsity = any rower eligible as an eighth grade or high school athlete.
- Second Varsity = any rower not in the first boat of the varsity program.
- Third Varsity = any rower not in the first or second boat of the varsity program.
- U17 = Rower may not attain the age of 17 in calendar year 2025. Coxswains are exempt from this requirement.
- To make a second varsity entry; a team must enter the first varsity event, except by arrangement for beginning programs approved by the LOC. Similarly, 3rd varsity entries can only be made after the team has entered the 2nd varsity race. U17 entries may be made in the 3rd Varsity / U17 Race without entering a 1st or 2nd boat.
- Novice = any rower who first raced after April 12, 2024.
- Coxwain age restrictions (novice eligibility) will not be strictly enforced.
- ENTRIES: Definitions describing the qualifications for entries are above.
