About the Heart of Texas Regatta:
The Heart of Texas is held annually in March, making it one of the first sprint races of the Spring. The Heart is a 1000 meter sprint race held on Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake) in Austin, Texas. All types of events are offered-- 1x to 4x, 2- to 8+. Junior, Open, Masters, Novice, and Recreational categories are offered. The Austin Rowing Club held the first Heart of Texas Regatta in 1983, primarily for visiting college crews. The event has grown to include Masters and Junior events, and employs a seven lane, fully buoyed course and state-of-the-art starting platform. Over 800 boats will compete at the 2009 Regatta.
