River City Rebellion: A Small Boat Tournament

  • Hosted By: River City Rowing Club
  • 2016 Registered Regatta

 Hello,

 A Brief Regatta History:

The River City Rebellion evolved out of an annual inner club race designed to maximize club participation by allowing men and women of all ages to compete against each other in a variety of boat types.  Club members all liked the tournament format for many reasons.  It is fun lining men and women using sweep or sculls up against each other with a chance to win based upon ability.  Racing in only small boats creates a friendlier atmosphere and camaraderie amongst competitors.  Having more than one race makes the event more interesting and a great workout.  The racing in the final round is very close and each race is anybody's to win.

As there was a need for additional summer sprint racing in the Sacramento Area, last year, we decided the turn our little club race into a real regatta.  The club really committed to the regatta and many volunteers turned out to make the regatta a success.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate.  Unusually high winds caused the racing to be stopped after the first round of racing.

I hope to see you at this year's Rebellion!
