Distance: Approx. 5000 meters

Registration and Rules

This is a USRowing Registered Regatta - 2016 Rules of Racing will be followed.

Registration and Waivers: Regatta Registration will be located in the boathouse on the 2nd floor on the day of the regatta. 

All registration will be on Regatta Central, online waivers are highly encouraged, please contact the regatta director if you wish to submit paper waivers. 

Medals: Medals for 1st , 2nd and 3rd can be picked up at the Merchandse table.

Scratches: Scratches will only be accepted by email prior to the coaches and coxswains meeting.  No fees will be charged for scratches; however, refunds will not be given.

Cost: See Overview tab for pricing. Note that fees do not include city (2.9% for Lakewood and WA state sales tax 6.5%). This will be figured in at the end of your registration.

Check-in: Check-in will open at approximately 7:00, upstairs in the CBRC boathouse, your team will not be given your packet until final payment is made and all waivers have been received.

Adaptive Rowers must follow Adaptive Safety Protocols

WeighIns: Coxswain and lightweight weight is on the honor system. Weights must be:

  • Cox for men & mixed: 120 pounds minimum
  • Cox for women: 110 pounds minimum
  • Lightweight women: 130 pounds maximum
  • Lightweight men: 160 pounds maximum - no average 

Handicap: Masters events will be handicapped using the HOCR handicaps.  If a masters entry does not specify an average age, then your time will be calculated based on a 21 years old average.

Bow Numbers: Each boat will receive a bow number in their regatta packet. Please return bow numbers at the recovery dock immediately after your race.

Bow Balls: Each boat must have an firmly attached bow ball and heel ties, crews will be checked prior to launch.

Interference and Passing: See map

Penalties:

  • Late to the start - 10'
  • Failure to yield - 30'
  • Interference with another crew - 60'
  • Miss single buoy - 60'
  • Miss more than one buoy - exclusion
  • Collision - exclusion 
  • foul language - exclusion

We have a Weather Contingency Course of approximately 3800 meters. If the weather turns, we will use this course.

Logistics, Merchandise and Food

Trailer Parking: Parking for trailers is available at Harry Todd Park.  Please let the regatta director know by email if you will be bringing a trailer for detailed parking information. 

Parking for Crews and Spectators:  Due to the expected trailers coming this year. There will be no passenger car parking in the park itself.  Additional Parking will be available along the fence line of the park. Do not park on the residential side opposite from the park. Off-site parking is available at Tillicum Elementary (see map) and some on-streets parking near the park. 

There is No Parking along the back fence outside the park. You will be towed.

There is no parking for spectators or athletes directly near the boathouse for the safety of athletes and boats. Cars may be let in for a quick dropping off of supplies only at the discretion of the parking volunteers.

Directions:  For map and directions 

  1. From I-5 N/B or S/B take exit 123 Thorne Lane 
  2. Head west off the on ramp (Right turn if coming from the north, Left turn if coming from the south)
  3. Proceed west to a hard left turn in the road, turn right immediately after to stay on Thorne Ln.
  4. Stay to the left, the park will be on your right side.

Regatta Shirts and Merchandise: Regatta Shirts will be available at the Registration Tent along with other merchandise.

Food: Food will be provided for a fee. Clubs interested in partaking must give the Regatta Director a head count. If you do not give the regatta director a head count, we will assume that your club will provide their own food. Fee for food is $9/person. Pre-pay is available through Regatta Central.

Team Tents: We have full use of the park. Team tents are allowed in park in the rigging area and on the hillside above the race course.  Tents can also be placed in the grassy area beyond the trees. Please do not place tents in front of the regatta headquarters tent, near the launching and recovery docks, or in any of the parking areas. CBRC will have food tents near the playground please no tents there..

Rigging: The park will be closed for this regatta so we have full use of the park. In addition to the basketball courts, please use the grassy area to the right of the basketbal courts including the baseball field for rigging. Please do not rig on the hill or near the park bathrooms as control commision cannot keep track of you.
