2021 Coaches Packet

 

Coaches/Coxswains/Scullers Meeting: Ski Beach Gazebo 

Results will be posted at the Row for the Cure - San Diego, Results and will be updated on RegattaCentral once racing concludes. 

 

Schedule will change according to the number of entries and will be sent out once finalized.

 

Categories

 Novice Junior’s must have not raced with their team prior to June 2021.

 Masters must be 21 years of age by Dec. 31, 2021

 Masters shall receive handicaps derived from the US Rowing Standards

 

The USRowing Waiver is required to participate in this regatta, and the basic USRowing membership.

 

Check-in

Participants and teams may check in at San Diego Rowing Club from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Friday October 8 or from 5:30am-6:30am on Saturday, October 9th.

 

All participants must be checked in by 6:30AM on race day.

 

Schedule Updating

Depending on the number of entries received, the schedule could change to account for that. The Final Schedule will be posted and sent out to everyone a couple days beforehand. 

 

Results and Awards

Results will be posted here Row for the Cure - San Diego, Results and will be posted following the regatta on Regattacentral. 

 

All participants will receive their medals on the water after returning their bow numbers at the finish line.


 

Boat Storage

Boats being stored at Ski Beach should be stored on their trailers until the morning of the race and then rigged and launched south of the finish line, where medals are given.

 

Launching/Returning

Crews launching from Ski Beach should plan on launching 30+ minutes before their race. Launching will take place on the beach, there is no dock. Make sure to put the boat in deep enough water so you do not lose your skeg. Launching will take place at the north end of the shore while landing will take place on the southern part of the shore, just past the finish line.

 

Bow Balls and Heel Ties & Bow Number

No shell may be launched without a bow ball or heel ties. This will be on the honor system.

Bow Numbers will be provided in the Entry Packet and MUST be returned at the finish of their race prior to returning to their respective boathouse/launch point.  

 

Parking (Trailer/Vans)

Parking for trailers and team vans is located at the Ski Beach Parking Lot

 

Competitor and Spectator Parking

Free parking is available in the Ski Beach or Crowne Point Park with a number of available parking lots.

 

Rules of Racing

USRowing rules will be in effect with additional notes added below:

  1. All boats must strictly adhere to the traffic pattern as will be discussed at the Coaches & Coxswain’s meeting.
    1. Boats must stay outside of all buoys. Any boats that goes shoreside of the buoys or passes through bridge openings not designated by buoys may be disqualified. 
  2. Overtaking boat has the right-of-way. Any boat being overtaken MUST yield. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.


 

Course Map with buoys, we will cover these buoys during the coaches and coxswains meeting on Saturday morning at 6:30AM.
