Erg Rodeo 2023 Rules and Procedures

INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE REGATTA

Health & Safety

Texas Crew has hired a sports trainer to serve the needs of any individuals who may experience an emergency during raceday. If any competitor has a pre-existing condition that may be a cause for concern, please notify the sports trainer before you race.

Check-in

All competitors need to arrive at least an hour and a half early to register and warm-up for their individual races. Check-in for the first event will begin one hour before the first race. The first race will begin at 8:00am. Please note that you must register online this year and there will be no same-day registration. You must check in for your event at least one hour prior to the scheduled time. Athletes who check in later than one hour before their event may be able to race in that event, or a later scheduled event, but will not be eligible for a trophy or buckle.

Masters Events: Restricted to appropriate age category.

All individual events are 2000 meters unless otherwise specified and all times listed are approximate. In events requiring multiple heats, we will attempt to group competitors from slowest to fastest, in ascending order, based on entry-form predicted times. All competitors will pull only once, unless competing in the relay event, and racing should conclude no later than 4:00pm. Please plan to arrive at least an hour and a half before your event so that check-in, warm-ups, and racing can all run smoothly.

Mixed Open 8+ Relays

Relays will be 2000 meters long, with 8 rowers each responsible for 250 meters. Each team will use one ergometer and a total time will be taken (including rower switches). Participation is free to anyone entered in other Erg Rodeo events. There are no age or weight limits. Teams must have 8 rowers, at least 4 of whom must be women.  The distance of this event could change depending on time at the board's discretion.

Lightweight Weigh-In

Lightweights must weigh-in on race day at least one hour before their scheduled start time, and we recommend that you arrive at least an hour an a half before your race to ensure that you have time for check-ins, weigh-ins, and warm-up. You must check in before weigh-ins. Competitors who do not make weight should still plan on racing in their original lightweight heat. If time permits, we may move them to a heavyweight heat, but this is not guaranteed (either way their results will be included with their heavyweight competitors time). Weigh-in begins at 7am.

Schedule

Event times are approximate and the schedule is subject to change. The schedule as printed on race day is the best estimate of when an event will begin. Rowers and coaches should allow sufficient time before and after their scheduled event to accommodate any adjustments in timing that may be required. As event registrations (numbers of rowers) dictate, it is also possible that more than one event will be conducted at the sametime. Please listen for calls before the start of each heat. We will do our best to keep to the schedule and make announcements as needed. The rower's cooperation is always appreciated.

Awards and Prizes

Trophy Buckles will be awarded to the winner of each event.

Open Adaptive

While we are happy to accomodate rowers of all types, we are unable to provide additional equipment beyond ergs. If you plan on racing in the open adaptive event and require supplemental equipment, please plan on bringing it and setting it up prior to your event.

Interpretation of Rules

The meaning and application of this information will be determined solely by the Erg Rodeo Planning Committee and all decisions will be final. Schedules will be updated, as needed, based on entries.
