Regatta Update 9/22:  Algal blooms in the Maumee River not a cause of great concern

After closely monitoring the algal bloom and consulting with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, the regatta will continue on Saturday, Sept. 23. The health department is expected to issue a statement on water conditions later Friday afternoon. These conditions are within safe levels according to our contact at the health department. While the water advisory remains in effect, the Toledo Rowing Club has been advised that river conditions will remain within safe levels throughout the weekend.

Out of an abundance of safety for our rowers, The Toledo Rowing Club suggests those taking part in the regatta wash skin that has come in contact with river water. The regatta will provide rinsing stations for those concerned about exposure to the water from the Maumee River. Rowers should also prepare for the forecasted weather conditions of temperatures around 90 degrees.

On Thursday, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department issued a recreational water advisory for the Maumee River, including portions of the race course for the 2017 ProMedica Frogtown Regatta.

If clubs are no longer interested in attending the 2017 ProMedica Frogtown Regatta, refunds will be issued. Please email [email protected] for refund information.
