Winter Blues! Hit the Erg Before You Hit The Couch!

 

Come to the MainLine Slide on January 30, 2022! This is a HYBRID Event, In-person and Virtual races!

This is a Sanctioned Event for the World Rowing Indoor Champships (WRICH) 2022.

The MainLine Slide is an indoor rowing competition for juniors and also attracts master, novice, collegiate, adaptive and fitness rowers. 

Entry fee of $20 per in-person event ($25 day of event); Team events $25

Entry fee of $15 per virtual event

 

REGISTER now by clicking here or on 'Registration Form' in the left panel. Please note that your age category will be based on what your age is on December 31, 2022, not your age on the day of the race itself.

Walk-ins will be accepted the day of the the MainLine Slide if events are not already full.  NO changes or additions can be made less than 30 minutes prior to an event

RACE ERGs For Sale

New and gently used race ergs are available for purchase while supplies last.  The Concept2 Model D/PM5 Indoor Rower is regularly $900 + $45 shipping + PA sales tax, but race ergs are available for new $850 and gently used ergs $800, pick-up only, no PA sales tax. These are black Model Ds with a PM5 monitor from Concept2. Please contact us for bulk purchases.

Check-In

Athlete check-in opens at 6:30 AM Sunday 01/30/2022 and closes one hour prior to the scheduled event time.

Rowers and their coaches are expected to complete the check-in process in a timely manner to allow the rower to become oriented and to warm up before the event. Assume there will be a line. It is the responsibility of the rower to be at the venue early enough to complete check-in and weigh-in.

Refunds will not be granted for late arrivals. Schedule may be condensed, if events aren't filled.

Athletes competing under a false name, birthdate or for another competitor will be disqualified.

Erg Time Reporting for Virtual Races

Do your best erg piece anytime, starting at 9:00 A.M.. Friday, January 28th through the deadline to report your erg time on Sunday, January 30th at 3:00 PM EST.

Take a picture of your erg time for verification and email: [email protected] by the Sunday January 30th at 3:00 PM EST.

Lightweights-competing in a virtual event must take a picture of your weight and send to [email protected]

Lightweights must also take a picture of your erg time for verification and Email: [email protected]

Waivers

All competitors must have a current USRowing waiver completed when registering online and bring it to check-in. Also participants must sign the MainLine Slide waiver and bring to check-in. Minors (under 18) must have a parent or guardian’s signature. No exceptions. See link in the left column under COMPLIANCE.

 

Lightweights and Weigh-In

Check-in first.

Any competitor in a lightweight event must weigh in on race day during the 1-hour window beginning two hours before and ending one hour before their race time. For example, if you are scheduled to race at 12PM, you must weigh in between 10AM and 11AM. No exceptions. Weigh-in is located next to the check-in table.

Athletes who registered as a lightweight and fail to weigh in for any reason will be moved to the corresponding open weight event. Weight limits are in accordance with US Rowing Rule 4-104.3.

Mens Open Lightweight is 165 lbs max (75 Kg)

Mens Youth Lightweight is 150 lbs max (Non-World Indoor Rowing Race)

Womens Lightweight Open is 135 lbs max (61.5kg)

Womens Youth Lightweight is 130 lbs max (Non-World Indoor Rowing Race)

Coxswain Men is 120 lbs and under 

Coxswain Women is 110 lbs and under

Weigh-in attire is required. This is limited to a minimum of a unisuit or shorts and a top that covers the torso. There are no naked weigh-ins.

Athletes who successfully weigh-in will receive a wristband to confirm their lightweight classification.

Middle School Athletes

Must be 14 years or younger on the date of the event AND enrolled in middle or elementary school.

Schedule

Event times posted on Regatta Central are approximate and the schedule is subject to change. Please check the schedule after 10pm the day before the Regatta. Schedule may be condensed day of the event if there are no racers in a prior event. Late Entries or changes, will not be accepted within 30mins of a scheduled race.

Awards

Medals are awarded to the top three finishers (or team members in the case of relays) in each in-person event with 5 or more entries. In-Person events with 4 or less entries will have a medal awarded for first place only. Only first place will be awarded for virtual events.

Cancellations

Due to scheduling limitations it is not possible to set a snow date.

In the case of extreme weather, cancellation notices will be posted on RegattaCentral.

Any decision to cancel the Main Line Slide will be made by Lower Merion School District staff in consultation with Main Line Slide staff.
