REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 27, 2019

ENTRY FEE: $20 for up to two events (1 individual and 1 relay) (*includes all RCA, Rowing BC fees and taxes)  

*Late entries will only be accepted if there is room and will be charged $25

Entry fee also includes $2 which will be donated to KidSport

*Relay Entries can be made on Race Day providing there are open lanes. Maximum of 24 Teams per event.

*With events 2, 4, 18, 19, 20, 21 teams can switch at any intervals they choose.  

*If any Jr. C athletes wish to compete on their own they are free to enter the Jr. B race and will be recognized.

*With events 18 and 19 a team can be Jr. A, B, Sr, Sr. B, lightweight or heavyweight.  All members of the team should be of a same category or the team will be placed in the category of the highest member.  Each category will be assigned a gold standard (usually based on Worlds Best Time) and the winner will be determined by each teams result compared to their gold standard.  

DEFINITIONS

Lightweight Weight Classifications

Men 75kg  |  Women  61.5 kg

Lightweight rowers shall be weighed wearing only their racing uniform on tested scales not less than one (1) hour and not more than two (2) hours before their first lightweight race.  Each athlete will have one attempt at weighing in.  Failure to weigh-in will result in being moved to the Open category’s results.

**IMPORTANT:  It is highly suggested that Jr. B lightweight athletes NOT cut weight.  A note will be made and attention will be brought to that athletes coach.  Please ensure your athletes are healthy, happy and naturally lightweight at this age.  

Junior Rowing Age Groups:  Junior A: U19  |  Junior B: U17   |  Junior C: U15 

Junior C

Age 14 and under to December 31 2019 inclusive.  If you are turning 15 in 2019 you must row Junior B

Junior B

Age 16 and under to December 31 2019 inclusive.  If you are turning 17 in 2019 you must row Junior A

Junior A

Age 18 and under to December 31 2019 inclusive.  If you are turning 19 in 2019 you must row Senior B

Senior B

Age 22 and under to December 31 2019 inclusive.  If you are turning 23 in 2019 you must row Senior

Senior

Open to all ages.  Any athlete may compete in this event. Winning this event precludes winning in any other event.

Novice

A athlete can compete as a novice as long as they started rowing in the current academic calendar.  Athletes who started rowing before the 2018 school year started are not considered novice for the 2019 Beat the Beast.  

Para Races

Refer to the Adaptive Rowing Classifications used by Rowing Canada.

Coxswain

Racing / training experience limited to role of coxswain having coxed a rowing race in a sanctioned regatta at least once during the 2018 regatta season.

There are no age or weight restrictions.

Parent / Offspring
Must be legal guardian or biologically related as per categories listed.
Any combination of father/son, mother/son, father/daughter, mother/daughter, or grandparent.

Masters rowing age groups

The age of a rower in a masters rowing event shall be that which he/she attains on the day of the event.

Masters rowing events shall be held in the following crew age categories:

A. Minimum age: 27 years

B. Average age: 36 years or more

C. Average age: 43 years or more

D. Average age: 50 years or more

E. Average age: 55 years or more

F. Average age: 60 years or more

G. Average age: 65 years or more

H. Average age: 70 years or more

I. Average age: 75 years or more

J. Average age: 80 years or more

K. Average age: 85 years or more
