Overview
This year we are happy to invite all of the junior programs in the NW to attend our informal
race on Vancouver Lake. The goals of the event are as follows:

• Do some friendly, high-level racing over 2,000m on the NW championship course.
• Give teams the opportunity to assess their competitiveness in the NW in the various boat
classes offered at the USRowing Regional & National Championships.
• Give coaches and crews a chance to work together to execute a fun, simple weekend of
racing.

Please review the details below and make sure this event sounds like a good fit for your
program. This event will not have a lot of bells and whistles- like tee shirts, music on a PA or
concessions.

Clubs eligible to enter
Any junior program in the NW region. Crews from out-of-region should contact us for special
invitation (space permitting).

Venue
We will race at Vancouver Lake. The full racecourse will be installed, including stakeboats. Lane
draws will be random.

Rules
USRA referees will be in attendance, to monitor safety and fairness for all. The USRA rules of
rowing will apply, within the parameters of the event.
There will be no coxswain weigh-ins.
Coaches will be responsible for checking bow balls, heels ties etc. A USRA ref may be doing
random checks as crews go to launch.

Eligibility
Athlete age and eligibility will be as per Regionals and Nationals. Allowances can be made to
allow crews in the eights to race (i.e. coxswains, “fill-ins” etc.)

Teams are allowed one entry per event. Second and Third entries will be wait-listed, and added as the schedule permits. 

Schedule
The schedule posted may be adjusted in the event that it is possible to compress the day, or if
we have to add heats. As much as possible we will aim for what is posted.

Trailer parking / boat storage / venue layout
We will mimic the general layout and system employed at Regionals.

Practicing and warm-up
There will be no supervised practice windows on Friday or Saturday evenings.
