Final Update: May 11, 2012. We look forward to seeing everyone. Here's some final information.
Park Address: W Shawnigan Lake Rd, Shawnigan Lake, BC V0R 2W0.
Weather: As forecast, the weekend will be hot. High 20s to low 30s. There is no running water in the park, so please come prepared with bottled water or jugs of water for your team. Some drinks will be sold in the park, but please don't count on these to be your only source of water. Also, come appropriately dressed for the conditions (hats, light coloured shirts), and wear sunscreen.
Trailers: We will have someone meeting trailers when they arrive. Please call Paul at 613-410-3215 if he isn't at the park gate when you arrive. Space for boats in the park is limited. Please leave all 1xs and most of your 2xs in the trailer parking. Shawnigan will have smaller boats in the park, but only because we won't have a trailer. Once you are finished using boats, please de-rig them and bring them back to your trailer.
Tents: We do our best to make sure everyone has adequate space for their tents, athletes, and supporters. That being said, we will allocate space based on the number of athletes each club is bringing.
Regatta Schedule: The schedule has had a few minor changes. We have moved the breaks. Please double check your boat assignments.
Coaches and Coxswains Meeting: The meeting will be held at 3pm on Friday next to the Control Commission.
Weigh-ins: 63kg women, 72.5kg men. 3:30pm to 7:00pm on Friday, and 8am to 10am on Saturday.
Maps:
Course Map. During the time trials, even numbered bow markers will row down lane 2 and odd numbered bow markers will row down lane 5.
Venue Map. The parking lot at the park is reserved for trailers and officials. As mentioned earlier, please store your small boats on your trailers and your big boats on the racks in the park.
Parking: It can be difficult to find parking at the regatta. We block off one side of the road to maintain a flow of traffic in both directions. You can park on one side of the road. Please don't block any of the pedestrian or vehicle entrance points, this includes parking in front of gates to the park. To avoid the congestion, please arrive early and park at Shawnigan Lake School. We will have shuttle busses moving back and forth.
Park at Shawnigan Lake School and take one of our complimentary shuttles. See the map here. See the shuttle schedule here.
If parking on the road the road near the park, please arrive early as it could be a long walk. Avoid blocking driveways, or gates to the park. Stay off the side of the road lines with sandbags.
Update: May 8, 2023. The preliminary regatta schedule is now posted. Please see regattadata.com.
Update: May 7, 2023. Only 4 more days.
Hi everyone,
We've had a large entry in a number of events at the Shawnigan Lake Regatta. It's exciting for us to think so many athletes are coming to Shawnigan to race this weekend.
Schedule/Draw - We are working on the draw. The preliminary draw will be posted asap.
Please be aware that the Hunderford Cup events and Sr/U23 events, if they have more than 7 entries, will be racing a time trial on Friday afternoon. The Hungerford Cup events, include the U19 1x, U19 2-, and U17 1x. Olympic Champion, George Hungerford, will be here on Saturday to present the medals to the Hungerford Champions. Finals for these events are first thing Saturday morning.
Because there are so many entries, Friday will be packed with racing, and is likely to include Time Trials and Heats for Saturday events in order to relieve some pressure Saturday.
Tents & Trailers - Please fill out the following spreadsheet, even if you have already messaged me about your trailer arrival time. Also let us know if you need space for a tent. Because the park is packed full, we will allocate space based on the number of entries and athletes your club is bringing. Please factor this into your plans. Furthermore, given the shortage of trailer space, please consider sharing a trailer with nearby clubs. If you are only bringing 1xs, please consider cartopping.

Park and Boat Racks - Like last year, there is limited space for boats on boat racks in the park. Please plan to leave singles on your trailer throughout the regatta. On Saturday, once you are done competing in the 8+, please move your eights back to your trailers.
Lightweights - Weigh-ins, 63kg Women, 72.5kg Men.
Weigh-in open 3:30-7pm Friday, and 8-10am Saturday.
Finally, please come prepared for HOT weather. Bring lots of water (we will be selling drinks, but there are no water fountains or taps in the park), sunscreen, hats, and light clothes you can use to cover up. Also, while we communicate with our neighbours on the lake and politely ask them to avoid waking the course, considering the weather, please prepare your crews for some boat wake.
Thank you for helping us make this the best regatta possible. We can't wait for you to arrive.
Paul
Update: April 23, 2023. The event list is posted. Also posted is the registration deadline of May 5th. Please send your questions my way, [email protected].
The mix events will run their own finals if there are enough entries. If it makes sense to run a full final in the U19 Mix 2x and U19 Mix 4x we will run their own final. If not, we will run them with the U19 men's 2x and 4x.
Update: April 21, 2023. The event list will be much the same as last year. We are finalizing where in the schedule to put them, including U19 mixed events for 2x and 4x as both these have been requested by clubs. We'll get this posted asap.
Thank you.
Update: April 17, 2023. Welcome to the Shawnigan Lake Regatta. Much more to be posted over the next two days, including order of events, entry fees, and registration deadlines.
The list of events is not yet complete and the order is not yet set. Please be patient over the next two days. The next update will be on Wednesday April 19th, 2023.
Thank you for your patience.
