BONE MARROW DONOR DRIVE: 10:30am - 1:30pm July 11 at the boathouse - Bone Marrow Donor Drive sponsored by CRC and the National Marrow Donor Program.  Why? because our teammates and friends Steve Vermillion and Dick Carr, along with 30,000 other children and adults yearly, are in need of matching bone marrow.  Steve rowed with Capital Rowing Club for over 10 years and Dick Carr is a parent of former high school rowers and supporter of high school regattas on the Anacostia River. The cost to register at the regatta is $25  - thanks to a community fund matching program.  It would normally cost $58 dollars per person to register.  It is a simple process to register, taking about 12 mins start to finish, but you should read about the requirements to qualify.  If you can not register, or do not qualify, to donate bone marrow yourself please consider sponsoring the registration fee for someone who would like to register but may not have the funds available.  Please go to http://www.marrow.org/ for more details about the registration process.

Get your 10th Annual Capital Sprints T-Shirts!!!

T-shirts will be available for purchase on Saturday.  This is a historic race for us as it is not only the 10th Annual Regatta but it also marks the last Capital Sprints at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.  Next year we will have a new location as the area around the boathouse will undergo a major construction effort.

Capital Rowing Club is pleased to announce the 10th annual Capital Sprints Regatta, to be held on Saturday, July 11th!!  Please set aside this date on your summer racing schedules to come to the Anacostia for a day of great racing and fun!

The race will be held at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.  All races will be 1000 meters.  We will run Junior, Open and Master's categories in each event where there is interest. (Note: there will not be age categories in the Novice events)  We will be recognizing the AA Master's category again this year and hope to be able to provide great  competition for all entry interests.

As has become the tradition at Capital, we will have Hat Races to cap off the day.  Please plan to stick around and participate in these fun events.  (Registration for these events will take place on race day.)

We will again host a picnic to feed the competitors and their fans following the races!  Capital will provide the hearty food (hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, etc) and we will ask all of our guests to help out with the side dishes and drinks.  Our Social Chair will be in touch to give you the details of this closer to race day.
