About the Heart

The Heart of Texas is held annually in March, making it one of the first sprint races of the Spring. The Heart is a 1000 meter sprint race held on Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake) in Austin, Texas. All types of events are offered- 1x to 4x, 2- to 8+. Junior, Collegiate, Open, Masters, Novice and Recreation categories are offered. The Austin Rowing Club first held the Heart of Texas Regatta in 1983, primarily for visiting college crews. The event has grown to include Masters and Junior events and a seven lane, bully buoyed course and state-of-the-art starting platform. Almost 700 boats competed in the 2009 Regatta.
